On his recent trip to Bali Secretary John Kerry spoke about the importance of sustainable fisheries and marine conservation for Indonesians. He highlighted the Indonesian Biodiversity Research Center (IBRC), a collaborative effort among UCLA, the Smithsonian Institution and three Indonesian universities. The IBRC was founded in 2010 and is funded by USAID to facilitate critical biodiversity research in the region. I have worked there every summer for the past four years! Thanks to Secretary Kerry for mentioning us and talking about sustainable fisheries.
